Hiram Crowder

Executive Statement

Tenacious broadcasting student who learned the techniques of audio and video production, web publishing and content management.  Willing to learn any aspects to grow and build on new skills and share practices learned.  Created commercials of various styles and purposes.  Able to create and edit audio files, mixing down multitrack sessions into audio files, using various effects to create the desired outcome for different projects.  Interested in audio production, open to enhancing skills in video production as well.

Understanding of the basic communication model.  Aware of barriers and interference that can affect the interpretation of a message conveyed.  Able to diagnose communication problems as a gateway toward possible solutions.

Seeking a working environment that allows for recording innovation limited only by the imagination.  Utilizing the latest technology to record, edit, produce and finalize spots that can be useful for traditional broadcast media and web content.  Hoping to develop skills that can be used to promote beneficial causes, helpful products and services, communicate encouraging and inspirational messages and stories, draw attention to significant concerns of the times, and give hope to a world where hope seems almost nonexistent.

Biography

Hiram Crowder is a contact representative with the Internal Revenue Service.  In addition to working as a patient services assistant at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, his career as a government employee has gone for more than 20  years.  In that time, he has taught co-workers about means testing, assisted in training new clerks, coached the use of Microsoft Office applications for individual projects, used the same applications to report Enrollment Office activity as needed, and provided coverage for the Emergency Department, including the Psychiatric Emergency Room as a patient services assistant. Currently he answers calls from customers with account questions and sometimes tax law inquiries. He has also taught new employees while serving in the instructor cadre in his current position.

As a student at the Ohio Media School, Hiram has learned about audio recording, is gaining skills and experience with programs such as CoolEdit, WordPress, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition, and easel.ly.  Using WordPress has helped to create this website.  Started gaining experience with Twitter and sending tweets. Experience continues while learning to work with Audacity for audio recording when making voice overs and auditions. He started actual voice-over work recording audiobooks and has narrated two works currently available on audible.com.

As an aerospace lecturer at the Visitor Center of the NASA Glenn Research Center, he studied and presented educational programs to various groups from grades K-12 and all walks of life.  He also gave tours of the museum and select facilities as established in the programs given.  In addition to editing education programs annually, he published a quarterly news flier to promote Visitor Center services, special events, and NASA developments to groups and individuals that came to visit the museum.  He has enjoyed working with students, summer camps, church and civic groups, and summer camps while sharing information about space and flight – his two favorite subjects.
