Youth Under Attack: Dangerous Times

There are just too many things going wrong with our children today.  Something’s missing, and I think more has to be done to protect them.  Look at the recent stories and you’ll see what I mean.

A story shares a grandmother’s pain as her 9-year-old daughter and 3-year-old granddaughter were shot during a drive-by shooting.  Click here for the story.  A 14-year-old boy goes out for a jog, and later he’s found dead.  Read more by clicking here.  A 10-year-old boy with special needs was set on fire, possibly by two other kids.  Click here for the story.  A 9-month-old girl dies after being violated by her mother’s boyfriend. Click here for the story.

Previously, I was stirred to emotion about a situation where a group of children were left to themselves and it turned out deadly.  These stories show that our youth are experiencing dangerous times, and need protection.  We do what we can, but what more can we do?  How can we protect our children from drive-by shootings when bullets enter the house?  How can we be sure that a child going out for a morning jog will still make it back home?  What can be done to stop the behavior of children who don’t have scruples or morals to keep them from setting people ablaze or doing other terrible things?  What causes a grown man to violate a 9-month-old child?  I just don’t get it.

God, help us help our children.  We can’t have these incidents continuing.
