Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel make a remarkable threesome in the 2012 version of the sci-fi thriller, Total Recall. The main plot stays the same, except for a few twists to keep it fresh and electrifying.
Douglas Quaid (Farrell) is a factory worker who looks for something different from his routine, as he is haunted by dreams and can’t understand why. His wife Lori (Beckinsale), and his friend and co-worker Harry (Bokeem Woodbine), warn him not to go to REKALL for a memory implant, but he goes anyway. At Rekall, something goes horribly wrong, and the adrenaline rush begins. This time he links up with his girlfriend Melina (Biel) and takes on an army of robots that he helped build, to stop Vilos Cohagen (Bryan Cranston) from wiping out a poor society, as he seeks to take out Matthias (Bill Nighy), who leads a resistance to his power-hungry government.
Total Recall, even with the subtle changes in dialogue and story line, still has great special effects, and maintains a masterful twist to keep you guessing between the virtual and reality. The film is rated PG-13 for violence, sexual references, brief nudity and language.
