I have worked as a federal employee for 14 years. In the positions I held from previous to current, I functioned as a communicator and a problem solver, from helping veterans register for healthcare and get processed through the ER, to helping taxpayers with payment arrangements and various payment options.
As a student, I learned to read early on, and eventually learned to write. Now the most I can write creatively – and only on occasion – is poetry. Some day I hope to publish a book of poems, but I haven’t been able to locate more than 10 of a collection I made, all of which were on a website.
I was the youngest son and baby brother in a family of five. At the same time I became a husband, I also became a father, taking in my wife’s son at age 11, and a few years later we had a daughter. Their relationship reminds me of how close my late brother and I were though 14 years apart. With our son having a wife and daughter of his own, I am now experiencing being a grandfather as well, and I feel blessed by all of my family.
I seek to improve in being a good friend, a good neighbor, and a good citizen. All of these things combined – I believe – can make me a good American. I am Hiram Crowder, and I am excited about this new frontier.
